Get Instantly Bigger Eyes with These Quick Tricks

There’s nothing worse than having to wake up early after a long sleepless night only to find that your lack of beauty rest has resulted in tired puffy eyes. But that’s exactly why we love makeup. We turned to celebrity makeup artist Joyce Bonelli(pictured below) to find out the secret tricks she uses on her clients to give the illusion of brighter, wider eyes. Bonelli has brightened the peepers of gorgeous stars such as Khloé Kardashian, Jessica Alba, and Gigi Hadid. Her easy-to-follow tips can instantly make you look like you’ve scored a full eight hours, while also delivering a more radiant, youthful appearance.
Bonelli explained to InStyle that eye shadows can really make a big difference in how your eyes appear. “Applying a taupe light brown or a blushy bronze color to the crease, while deploying a lighter shade to the lower portion of the lid can really open up your eyes.” For an even more dramatic pop, the makeup pro suggests highlighting, “around the tear ducts and lower lid,” with an iridescent shade.bigger eyes makeup 1
As far as liner goes, Bonelli advises to only use the thinnest line. “I like using a dark brown shadow instead of stark black liners. Applying it with a thin angle brush softens the line, while opening up the eyes.” The key to creating the illusion of larger eyes is to keep that line as narrow as possible. “I only use a super thin liner from the center of the eyelid and out to the outer corners of the eyes. As I find a thicker liquid line can close up the eye a little.”
“Another trick to really make your lash line pop is to use white pencil liner on the upper water line paired with dark brown or black shadow on the lash line.” Bonelli’s trick will, “lengthen your lashes while also framing the eyes.”
If you really want to open up your eyes, you can add on a great pair of falsies. The pro recommends that you “go for a doe-eyed, wispy lash, and use an eyelash curler once they’re dry to open the eye up even more.”
Believe it or not, the color of your lipstick can change the way your eyes look as well. Bonelli likes peachy shades, which, she says, “bring out the whites in the eyes and brighten the face altogether.”
And if you only take away one thing, always remember that concealer is a girl’s best friend. “Camouflaging your under eyes can brighten up your whole face as well,” Bonelli pointed out.
